YouTube Is Jumping Into The Streaming TV Game

YouTube is joining a slew of other tech services offering streaming alternatives to cable TV.

Good news: You can now watch cable TV shows on YouTube! No — like, legally watch shows on YouTube.

YouTube TV is a new service that bundles content from more than 40 different networks together with original content from YouTube Red.

It's not quite as meaty as a standard cable package, but at $35 a month, it's also a lot less expensive.

But there are a lot of similar-looking services on the market — YouTube now has to compete with Sling TV, Playstation Vue, DirecTV Now and Hulu's new live TV plans.

The one thing YouTube does have over its competition is established viewership. The company recently announced about 1 billion hours of content are viewed on YouTube every day.
