U.S. military officials estimate an American-led coalition in Syria killed more than 100 pro-regime fighters Wednesday.

As Newsy previously reported, the coalition struck the group of pro-regime fighters in response to what it called "an unprovoked attack" on the headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Some U.S. forces were at the headquarters at the time, and they said some 500 backers of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad attacked.

Syria's state media confirmed reports about the coalition's counterattack, but did not specify exactly how many people were killed or injured. A military official told CNN that no Americans were killed or injured in the incident.
