The International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, said Monday that Iran is still upholding its end of the 2015 nuclear deal.

In a confidential report reviewed by The Associated Press, the IAEA said Iran has stayed within the restrictions set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The agency also said inspectors were able to access Iran's nuclear sites and verified the country has kept its heavy water and low-enriched uranium stockpiles within agreed limits.

As part of the deal, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program in exchange for having economic sanctions lifted. The U.S. announced it was leaving the deal earlier this year and has since reinstated all of its previous sanctions.

In response, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the country is in an "economic war" with the U.S. and that Iran will "proudly break the unjust sanctions."
