Briana KoenemanPresident Donald Trump confirmed reports that CIA Director Mike Pompeo secretly met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
In a tweet Wednesday morning, Trump said Pompeo had a meeting with Kim in North Korea last week. Trump said their meeting "went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed."
The Washington Post first reported Pompeo's trip Tuesday evening, not long after Trump said the U.S. already had "direct talks at very high levels with North Korea."
Trump has said he hopes to meet with Kim himself within the next few months. The leaders have yet to set a date for that meeting.
