Subaru and Toyota are recalling more than 400,000 cars around the world. The companies are concerned a faulty engine part could lead to stalling while driving that could potentially cause an accident.

The Wall Street Journal reports some of Subaru's most popular models, like the Forester and Impreza, may have this defect. Just over 100,000 of those Subaru cars were sold in Japan. About 80,000 of the recalls are Toyota-made, including the Scion.

All of the cars were reportedly made in 2012 and 2013.

The companies will reportedly be contacting those with affected cars and will pay for the fix.

A Subaru spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal the company reduced its operating profit expectations in the coming months largely due to this recall.
