Rep. Nancy Pelosi's path to becoming the next Speaker of the House appears to be have become easier.

On Tuesday, Pelosi's potential challenger for the speakership, Rep. Marcia Fudge, not only announced she won't run against Pelosi, but endorsed her.

In a statement Fudge said she's "now confident that we will move forward together," and that she also supports Rep. Steny Hoyer becoming House majority leader and Rep. James Clyburn becoming majority whip.

Fudge's statement also said Pelosi offered to make her chairwoman of a soon-to-be reinstated subcommittee on elections that will focus on the Voting Rights Act. The Ohio Democrat added that Pelosi assured her black women "will have a seat at the decision-making table."

House Democrats will select a Speaker of the House nominee next week and then take a final vote in January.
