Federal judges ruled North Carolina's congressional district map is unconstitutionally gerrymandered in favor of Republicans. And the state's legislature only has two weeks to redraw it. 

On Tuesday, a panel of three judges decided the Republican-drawn map had been "motivated by invidious partisan intent" and infringes on voters' constitutional rights. 

Because of the upcoming 2018 general elections, the judges gave the state until Jan. 24 to redraw the congressional district map. 

This is the second time in less than a year that judges ordered North Carolina to redo one of its voting maps. In 2016, judges determined the state's legislative map was racially discriminatory
