HBO just announced the creators of "Game of Thrones" will produce a new show, but the fan reaction isn't overly positive.

It's called "Confederate" and follows the events leading up to another Civil War. It's an alternate history series where the South successfully seceded from the union and slavery is a "modern institution."

And that's about all we know. Unlike "Thrones," which was based on a book series, "Confederate" is an original concept.

But the concept is already getting a lot of criticism on social media. Some are wary of the controversial subject, and others are worried about David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' ability to write about a controversial subject.

Many also saw parallels between "Confederate" and Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle."

In that show, the Axis powers win World War II, and Nazi Germany and imperial Japan rule the U.S.

Others argue HBO should just pick up "Underground" instead. The slavery-centered drama with a predominately black cast was well-received by fans before WGN dropped it.

Production isn't set to begin on "Confederate" until after the final season of "Game of Thrones."
