France's President Launches Website To 'Make Our Planet Great Again'

French President Emmanuel Macron is putting his money where his mouth is.

Macron just launched a website aimed at getting people who are committed to fighting climate change to move to France. He's serious about this.

The new site asks visitors what they do, where they're from and why they're fighting climate change. It then helps users apply for a four-year grant to move to France and apply for positions.

Macron isn't shy about his views on climate change. After President Trump did this …

"The United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord," Trump said.

Macron did this …

"To all scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, responsible citizens who were disappointed by the decision of the president of the United States, I want to say that they will find in France a second homeland," Macron said.

And the new website is evidence he meant it.

Macron is trying to establish France as a global leader in energy reform. Bloomberg reports he's trying to make it harder for companies in France to pump CO2 into the atmosphere. The outlet says he's working with Germany to establish a price floor on carbon for power utilities.

It would be a revival of an old proposal. The French had planned to implement a steep price increase for carbon this year, but dropped it after it got too complicated and created concerns that the measure might violate the French constitution.
