Former Donald Trump campaign aide Carter Page is back in the limelight over his alleged ties to Russia.
Multiple U.S. officials told The Washington Post that the U.S. Justice Department got a warrant to look at Page's communications from the 2016 presidential campaign.
If the Justice Department was able to convince a judge to provide a warrant, that means the DOJ had some reasonable suspicion that Page communicated with Russian operatives.
Page served as Trump's foreign policy adviser for part of the campaign. Before that, he was an investment banker in Moscow.
Page said he didn't have any improper communications during the campaign. He added that if his communications were picked up, it was "unjustified, politically motivated government surveillance."
